North West 10k 2008

Sunday saw the twelfth running of the North West Charity 10k in Letterkenny and again the club had a good presence.  Pride of place must go to Oliver Thomas senior, making a very welcome return to competitive running with a solid run.  Afterwards he expressed delight with his return.

First club athlete across the line was the impressive Gary Thomas; with a superb run, taking second in his category with 37.19 for a fourteenth place overall. Next up was brother Noel in 34th place with a powerful run and 39.13 on the clock. Richard McCarthy, gearing up for the 5ks, finished in 42nd place with a solid 39.53 on the clock.

Linda Ward had perhaps her best road race in some time with an super run to take 2nd place in category with a good 45.39 and followed by Vera Haughey in 48.13 and also 3rd in her category.

New recruit to the road-racing scene Niall Clancy from Ballyshannon had a great debut over the distance with a steady run, crossing the line with 50.22 on the clock. Niall is currently gearing up for three triathlons over the summer. It was great to see three generations of the Thomas family taking part, well done all…
