Social Evening in Allingham Hotel, Bundoran
Saturday, 21 September 2008

The club held a very successful social evening in the Allingham Hotel, Bundoran on Saturday night last to celebrate the Women’s Team victory in the AAI National Track and Field League final and qualification for Europe next season. Guests at the well attended function were Neil Cullen, Anthony Ward and partners from Letterkenny, with Neil making the official presentation of the cup to team captain Marie Rooney.

Special commissioned tops, sponsored by the club’s main sponsors, Cara Pharmacy Group, were presented to each member of the team by Captain Marie Rooney and Team Manager Jackie Harvey. Club Chairman, John Cannon thanked all those who were instrumental in brining this success to the club. He thanked the athletes, with a special mention to Lisa Shields and Joanne English of Letterkenny AC, who guested with the club during the league campaign but who unfortunately could not be present on the night. He also thanked team manager Jackie Harvey and the club coaches, Eamon Harvey, David Doherty and Paddy Donoghue, for the tireless efforts during the year, and everyone involved with the club at all levels, including the supporters. A special word went to the club’s sponsors for the past three years, Canice and Ramona Nicholas, of Cara Pharmacy, and to our other sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous, for both their support to the club and their active involvement in the club. He also thanked Peter and Elizabeth McIntyre of the Allingham Hotel for such a wonderful meal and access to the function room afterwards.

Flowers were presented to Bernie McNealy and Ann Donoghue for their great work on the riverside during the marathon long runs, thank you girls. During the evening a slide show of the team’s success played and the memories were relived. A most enjoyable evening was had by all.
