Several of our young athletes and one senior athlete made a very successful trip to the 'Sligo Track and Field Championships' on Wednesday last, to compete as invited guests. With a full programme going from U-9 to master, it was a busy and long evening.

There were many good performances from all our athletes with a few noticeable eye catching results; Aimee McCafferty, in the U-11 age group with a fine 100m/600m double; Kelly McGrory, Emma Brady, Karen Tracey and Eva McMullin taking the first four places in the U-14 girls 100m; Louise Harvey, first U-16 girls 100m and Michelle Harvey winning the senior women 1500m with 4.42 on the clock. Ronan McMullin, second U-11 boys 600m, Matthew Duffy, third U-11 boys 500m and Karen Timoney, third U-9 girls 60m. Our athletes dominated in the mixed relays in their age groups. Mark McGuinness, in his first 1500m race clocked an impressive 4.38 for the distance. Other athletes with very fine performances were: Áine Burns and Rachael McGee (U-9), Jack Delaney (U-10), Aaron Jones and Tyler Beattie (U-11), Megan McGee (U-12), Sarah Timoney, David Timoney, Dearbhla Hoey, Tori Beattie, Brendan Oates and Darie O’Reilly (U-13) and in the U-14 we had Conor Dawson and Jamie Brennan. Congratulations and well done to all.
