04 Oct 2009 - Last Lough Melvin Lake Run (22+ miles)

Saturday 03 October 2009

With very blustery conditions and some severe showers for company the seven club marathon athletes set off on the Moy at 8.00am for what

was their last long Lough Melvin Lake Run. For the guys, Canice Nicholas, Sean Cassidy and Vinny Duffy, who have been building the miles over the past few weeks, it is all systems go.

For the girls, Eileen Ward, Caroline Spratt, Bernie McNeely and Ann Donoghue, all who came to running just a few short years ago, it has been a long and rewarding few months since they began their preparation proper in April of this year. For all the work is almost complete and as the taper begins now over the next three weeks, all minds are firmly focussed on Monday 26 October.

Once again, a huge big thank you to Tony Cummins who organised and led the road crew, to Diarmuid Keon who provided bike support and Kevin Connors on vehicle support, all three were out from 8.00am until the end. To Brenda Morris and Paul Ward, who joined along the route with additional road support, thank you. Well done all.
