Successful Tír Chonaill Summer Camp

 

Over one hundred young athletes/children enjoyed five days of sport/art/dance coaching when the annual 'Tir Chonaill Summer Camp' was help in the spacious grounds of the Abbey Vocational School, Donegal Town from the 5th to the 9th July.

 

The addition of the clubs/schools recently completed new outdoor facility meant that all could be introduced to the following athletic events - Pole Vault/High Jump/Long Jump/Javelin/Discus/Shot Put and Hurdles. Camp Director, Michelle Harvey, who planned coordinated the extensive weekly programme, at the conclusion of the camp praised the participants, thanked the teachers/coaches/volunteers who gave freely of their time and the principal of the AVS, Mr Emmanuel McCormack, for putting the facilities at the school at the disposal of the club for the camp.

On behalf of Tír Chonaill Athletics Club I wish to thank you for sending your child/children to our Summer Camp, and hope they all enjoyed the experience.

 

I would also like to acknowledge and thank the thirty coaches/teachers volunteers who gave of their skills and time and made our camp such a success. The excellent and extensive indoor and outdoor sports facilities at the Abbey Vocational School were put at our disposal by school Principal Mr Emmanuel McCormick. 

 

We want to let you know that all the money raised by the camp goes toward the development of the new sports facilities opposite the Abbey Vocational School.

 

Our next Camps will be held in 2011 - Easter and Summer. Registration Forms will be available from All Sport, Donegal Town and Cara Pharmacy, Donegal Town. We’d love to see you all back again and if you are interested in helping out at our next camp just indicate to any member of the club.

 

Club juvenile training re commences for new members in early September in Bundoran, Ballyshannon and here in Donegal Town. Notification will be posted in the local press and via primary/secondary schools.
